Usage Guidelines

1. Preparation

  • Heat clean edible oil in a deep frying pan or kadai to approximately 180–190°C (medium-high heat).
  • Ensure oil is hot enough by dropping a small piece of appalam—if it rises immediately, the oil is ready.
  • 2. Frying
  • Gently slide the appalam into the hot oil using tongs or a spatula.
  • Fry for a few seconds until it puffs up evenly. Avoid over-frying to prevent burning.
  • Remove and drain excess oil on absorbent paper before serving.

3. Serving

  • Best enjoyed fresh and crisp as a side dish with meals or as a snack.
  • Can be seasoned with salt, pepper, or masala after frying for added flavor.

 

Storage Guidelines

1. Before Frying

  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
  • Keep the pack tightly sealed after each use to prevent humidity from making appalams soggy.
  • Use an airtight container if the original pack is opened.

2. After Frying

  • Consume immediately for best crispness.
  • If storing, let the fried appalams cool completely, then place them in an airtight container and consume within 1–2 days.

3. Shelf Life

  • Refer to the “Best Before” date printed on the pack.
  • Do not use if the product shows signs of moisture absorption, discoloration, or unusual odor.
